"The evolution of birds began 290 million years ago. It is believed they evolved from the Diapsid reptiles (organisms with two openings on each side of the skull), particularly from the so-called"ruling reptiles", the Archosaurius. The most currently accepted theory states that birds descend from a family of Theropod dinosaurs, which were carnivorous and walked on two hind legs. This family includes the running lizards (Dromaeosauridae), which walked upright. Deinonychus was part of this family. The fossil record of birds is incomplete and their evolutionary history is still uncertain. This evolutionary timeline is based on the most current knowledge. It can change according to the latest discoveries".

"To spread the knowledge for the sake of appreciating and preserving" the motto of Aldegundo Garza de Leon - founder of the Museo de las Aves de Mexico - and ruling premise of this institution that keeps on guiding new generations. Thank you!

"Although it is widely accepted that a small group of theropod dinosaurs gave rise to birds, finding feathered dinosaurs in the fossil record that predate the earliest known bird Archaeopteryx (150myo) has proven elusive. That was until Anchiornis huxleyi was announced in 2009. This species, found in China, dates to between 161-151 million years old and has well-developed feathers on all four limbs. Quick on its heels was the announcement of another stunning new feathered dinosaur Haplocheirus sollers, also from China and about 160 million years old".
