Catasetum orchid, Catasetum integerrimum, known in Yucatec Maya "Chi'it ku'uk" (squirrel's palm or squirrel's nest). From Greek kata (down) and seta (mushroom), refers to the antenna-styled appendages at the base of the column of the male flower. The word integerrimus comes from Latin (not divided, integer) after the labellum's circular mouth, contracted and integer. Flowering from June to December, its roasted pseudobulbs are used medicinally to treat tumors, even as glue.
