The largest bird eggs known, reaching 34cm/ 13.3in across and weighing up to 10kg/22lb, are the ones from the extinct Aepyornis maximus, the Elefant bird of Madagascar, a bird of up to 1 ton in bulk. For you to have a point of reference, the Honey hummingbird (Mellisuga Helenae) is the tiniest bird to this day. Endemic to Cuba, male weights in average 2,5-3gr/.08-.10oz (a USD dime or a MXN peso coin weight) with a size of 5-6cm/1.9-2.3in. Eggs of hummingbirds weight only around 1gr/.03oz or less.
