Exoeskeleton from a praying mantis nymph (unrecognized species). Mantodea order comprises 2, 400 species. In average each female can lay from 10 to 400 eggs (each with 10-150 nymphs), that take 2-4 weeks in hatching. With 7 molds before adulthood, they get to live in average 6 months. Dimorfism varies on color and size. Mantodea derives from Greek "μάντις" or prophet, and "εἶδος" or species, all in one "Fortune teller species". In Mayan it's called Ts'awayak, as it's believed that touching or seeing one makes you sleepy and dreamy.
